Frequently Asked Questions

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I hold a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Carleton University.

Psychotherapy is a way to help people who are dealing with a variety of life challenges, mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Mental health professionals help individuals reach their goals, increase their well-being and overall health. Problems can include difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss as well as  specific mental illnesses (i.e. anxiety or depression).

The first session helps us establish if we are a good fit.  This is the opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals or expectations for the therapeutic process. I will share my therapeutic approach; and together, we may begin to identify specific goals or areas to focus on during the course of therapy. I will also go over some necessary paperwork, such as consent forms or an intake questionnaire.

The sessions are 50 minute in length for individual therapy, 80 minute in length for couples, and the initial phone consultation is 20 minute long.

This will be discussed during our first meeting as it would depend on each client.

Your privacy is a top priority. While our services are confidential, certain legal or ethical obligations may require disclosure. Instances where confidentiality may be breached include situations involving imminent harm to yourself or others, cases of child or elder abuse, compliance with court orders or legal obligations, disclosure at your specific request, or for professional supervision and consultation.

Details about your confidentiality rights will be discussed in your first session and provided in our informed consent forms.
